2019 Community Prayer and Picnic

On September 7, 2019, WDCC gave ourselves away to the entire community as we held our annual Community Prayer and Picnic. It was the first in Bellwood since we moved into the community in April, 2019. This time we combined it with our 5K Unity Walk, Free Health Fair, and Back to School Giveaway.

In total, our partners helped us feed over 200 people (inclusive of children, adults and senior citizens). We provided over 200 health screenings, which included glucose, blood pressure, HIV, dental screenings for children and flu shots. We connected 20 people with viable job opportunities, as well offering the community free health resources for all age groups. We gave away gift cards, desk lamps, zoo tickets and an infant crib to random participants who entered a drawing by having at least three health screenings. Last, but certainly not least, we gave away 150 backpacks to student in kindergarten through college.


We are already thinking of ways to help even more people at next year's Community Prayer and Picnic!
